Best Hand: The dead man's hand managed to secure a full house twice in one night.
Bad Beat: No bad beats were particularly evident. Andy did, however, play all the wrong hands in the first game.
Week 8 has passed and we are now coming into the last trimester of the poker season. Despite the table now dividing into the premiership and champions league there is still room for an upset.
The Brim has hit a rich vein of form in the mid season taking 5 points last week and 4 points this week. He seamed to be a man on a mission last night, firing out at hands left, right and centre. By comparison the Wookie has slipped into a low gear, taking only 1 point and a spoon all night. However, the end of the season is normally Wookie time with the Brim fading into low points so a reversal might be on the cards.
It is by no means certain that the poker champions are alone in a title battle. Lagging by only two points is this season's surprise performer Monkey Spunk. Pointing strongly and winning regularly Monkey spunk is a volatile force to be reckoned with and is clearly a champion in waiting. With a little more consistency he could swap the bottom of the table for the top in season 4.
Week 8 is normally the Spaniards stomping ground and, while he failed to secure a win, he is back at the top of the APBA league making him the best player at the table on technical performance. There is no doubt that with better attendance The Spaniard would be up there on the winners trophy season after season.
It's also worth noting that the baptist is quietly creeping up the table. Of the 3 players on 9 points the Baptist has the highest APBA suggesting that he may be safe from relegation. The Green Machine, on the other hand, seams to have wained as Monkey Spunk waxes. He is propping up the APBA and like Michael Jackson, The Green Machine is forever blowing bubbles. He needs to come to the table with some new energy and aggression next week.
Predictions for next week: The Brim, Monkey Spunk and the Wookie will focus attention on each other and let points slip to other players as a result. The biggest point winner from this battle will be Chris (on a return to form). However, Evert will take another wild card win as he starts to loosen his game up again.

Player APBA League
The Wookie 2.29 16
The Brim 1.86 13
Monkey Spunk 1.71 12
The Spaniard 2.25 9
The CIA 1.38 9
Green Machine 1.29 9
Tickles 1.75 7
The Baptist 1.27 7
The Calculator 1.00 2
Best Hand: Possibly Aces full of Threes.
Bad Beat: The same hand. Poor old Tommy, when will he learn to walk away from Box Kings.
What a night last night turned out to be! The Brim back on form, Tommy mixing it up, The Baptist Baptising left right and centre. The table is still tight with only 11 points from the top to the bottom of the table
After a moments silence for the resignation of the Calculator from league play play got underway with some very quick dominating play from The Wookie who monstered early on with box Aces and bullied all the way to a win. True to form he spooned the next game. The Wookie now leads every table (League Points, APBA, Wins, Spoons and Attendances).
Tommy tickles, volatile as ever, lost the first game, monstered in the second but still went out on the bubble. He is still one of the lead players on APBA, however attendance will now be an issue until the end of the league.
The Baptist had a similar run of form. Blinded out in the first game, he came back to dominate the second only losing out to the Brim in the heads-up lottery. Worth noting that he spent the night complaining of sore thighs from 'Diving'. I'm beginning to think 'Diving' is a euphemism for something...
The question on everyones lips now has to be where is the Green machine? What's he doing? Is he biding his time for a point rush at the end of the league? Lets wait and see.
Cheers

Harry and The Mirror
Harry was alone and Harry was lonely. There were no friends to call on Harry and no brother or sister for Harry to play with. Harry cast around for a toy or game, something to enjoy. But Harry found nothing.
Then Harry had an idea. Harry would draw. He would draw a picture of other children just like him. Children having fun. Children with friends and families. Friends and families that played together with toys and games. That is what Harry would draw.
Harry had a large piece of paper. It was so large that Harry could not imagine that he would ever fill it. Harry found his favorite pencil. He used his favorite pencil to draw every picture he made. Harry put the pencil and paper in front of him.
“Where shall I begin?”, thought Harry. “What should the children in my picture look like?”.
Harry looked around for another picture of children. There was none. Harry thought about what a child looked like. But his thoughts were jumbled. He could not draw his thoughts. Harry started to despair.
“How will I ever draw people if I don’t have something to copy” Harry thought. Then Harry noticed something.
Harry noticed his mirror. It was a big mirror. So big that Harry could stand in front of it and see himself from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. And Harry knew then and there that he had the perfect picture to copy. He would make all the children look like him!
So Harry stood up straight and started to look himself up and down. Harry looked at his feet, with their ten wiggly toes. And he looked at his legs, with their knobbly knees. He looked at his tummy and giggled at his tummy button. Harry waved his arms and his hands and wiggled his fingers.
“This is easy!”, Thought Harry. “Ten fingers and ten toes. Two arms and Two legs. One of everything else!”.
Then Harry looked at his face. It was a nice round face with a big smile, a nose for sniffing, two gleaming eyes and a shock of hair on top. Harry pulled some faces at himself just for fun.
“Right”, Thought Harry, “Time to draw my picture.”
But before Harry could pick up his favorite pencil and put it on his large piece of paper he notice a freckle on his nose. It had always been there, but now it bothered Harry. How many other freckles did he have? Harry went very close to the mirror and tried to count them all.
As Harry was looking at his freckles he noticed his missing front tooth. Harry’s tooth had fallen out a few weeks ago and a knew one hadn’t grown yet. Harry also noticed the bruise on his arm from the day he fell over and the little dimples his mouth made when he smiled.
All of a sudden Harry’s whole body seamed to be covered in little details, tiny marks, wrinkles, bumps and hairs.
“How will I ever draw all these details on the Children in my picture?”, Thought Harry. Harry started to despair all over again.
After a while an idea came to Harry. He had a very large piece of paper. His favorite pencil was long and sharp. He had all the time he needed. He didn’t have to get his picture perfect first time. He could try and try again. Each picture would be better than the last.
“If I keep trying I will be able to draw a perfect picture with children that look just like me.” Thought Harry.
And with that Harry put his pencil on his large piece of paper and started to draw. After a while Harry whistled a song while he worked.

The table remains tight..
The Wookie 13
Monkey Spunk 10
The CIA 9
Green Machine 9
The Spaniard 9
The Brim 8
Tickles 7
The Baptist 5
The Calculator 2
Spoon leader is currently Steve (3 Spoons).
APBA leader is Tony (3pts).
Win leader is me (3 wins).
A well received return to the Motorcyclearium.
Best hand of the night - Andy Bourne's 7 card straight.
Bad beat of the night - just about any hand Tony folded.
Player to watch is Andy Bourne. Pre-season Andy took a few strong wins and this is his best season by far. He is pointing consistently each week and smashed it off in the cashy. Although he's sitting in second place, my own play has arguably been more volatile if Andy continues in this vain he could easily take the league.
By comparison previous favourite, The Brim, is spooning a lot, failing to make the cut into the points and seams less confident at the table. Some blame the drunken spat that led to him crashing the family car for his lack of focus...no wait that's Tiger Woods...
Finally a note on new boy De Vries. A quiet week from the South African is possibly evidence of his beginners luck wearing off. However, it is notable that his bets are receiving a new respect from other players burnt by the quality of his play in previous weeks. Possibly a future champion in waiting.
